The tour was nice, but Marvin was rude and arrogant from the moment we stepped on the bus. He harassed us for simply taking granola bars out of our handbags, he allowed other people to bring their dog on board, but not their coffee??? And he went so far as to make rude and sexually charged comments towards my step mother. As a local, and someone married to a local, I can tell you that the man is a total fraud - no true Charlestonian would act like him, not to mention his accent is more like something you would hear in New Jersey than somebody's that grew up here. The tour would be nice, but Marvin ruins the entire experience.
I have taken this tour on several of my visits to Charleston. I have always found it to be informative, interesting and entertaining. It is great to be on an air conditioned bus while getting a great tour of the city.
Doin' the Charleston Tours is a wonderful way to get to know and see Charleston! Our tour guide, Marvin, showed us and told us about all the unique Charleston sights. And he was fun! We had a great time!!! This is the best guided tour we have ever been on.
This tour of Charleston is the most fun! The comfortable van is cool and air-conditioned. The tour guide, Marvin, is a hoot! He's very knowledgeable Charleston native and has a very unique video presentation with music. He takes you to places that no longer exist and you really get a feel for how Charleston got to be the beautiful city it is today. They offer great package deals so you can combine with a museum or house tour. Every visitor to Charleston should definitely include this tour on their list of Must See items!

Marvin Katzen, the tour guide, gives an excellent explanation of all of the sights. He brings the people into the tour w/ his incredible knowledge. And he even dresses the part!! He also provides pictures of the inside of each place he takes you which gives an even better understanding of what you're seeing.
