This place is amazing, open concept design with a refined and cultured menu. Without the generous and genuine staff that love their jobs though, this place would not be what it is. The food is bursting with passionate taste and the servers will go the extra mile to make sure you love what you ordered. If you have one place to try in Charleston, go to butcher and bee
Lunch with my wife today at butcher and the bee was great. We'd been there for dinner before and really liked it as well. Today we have a winter greens salad which was simple but delicious, a quiche which was also pretty tasty, and a cheese burger for me which was exceptional - double Patty, homemade pickle, lots of cheese and a nice brioche bun. Next time we'll have to try breakfast, which we've already discovered is delicious at their sister site The Daily.
We liked it so much that we even came back later that day for dinner (which we never do twice in one day for a single place). And our expectations were outperformed! Would definitely recommend to anyone who values good quality healthy food that also tastes great.
What an excellent experience! All the food was absolutely delicious, but also healthy. Even their kids menu was much healthier than any other restaurant we've been to. Very nice environment for families in general. The service was outstanding. Our waitress had some great food recommendations for us and also brought out multiple beers to try until we found one that was absolutely delicious.
Try their lamb tartar. So unique and delicious!
Great, wide-open space. Friendly service. Although I ordered a veggie burger, I received the roast beef sandwich and was very happy with the mistake! It was excellent. The waitress had realized her error right away and was very apologetic but it was no problem at all since the sandwich was a good portion size and had tasty toppings.
So I am actually disappointed to be writing this and giving it only 2 stars but I didn’t have the best experience here. We used to live in the area three yrs ago moved away and when we came back butcher & bee totally changed their M.O. from a sandwich shop cafeteria style to a sit down full menu service... but we were excited to try it.. well it was a mixed experience, the cocktails were nice and the server was very friendly, but I couldn’t help but feel a little let down by the food and it also the atmosphere feels a little contrived and is missing the charm of the original place. We got an interesting falafel starter and I went for my former favorite the Israeli schnitzel and my husband got a vegetarian mushroom sandwich... they served the schnitzel on a different type of bread than the menu said and I was only told after I remarked that it was hard to eat because it was falling apart the whole time. They served it on a soft brioche type bread that was way over toasted it tasted burnt and and also the chicken was super well done to the point of being almost black and so were my French fries... the whole meal had a slight burnt taste to it. But it was my husband’s birthday and I didn’t wanna complain so I didn’t ... it’s also pricey to boot, but I don’t mind if I’m getting quality... but I am just bummed out because it left a bad taste in my mouth... literally. Not sure about coming back—I am disappointed because it was something I was looking forward to about moving back to Charleston but in the end I left feeling a bit ripped off and hungry.
