Great experience at Island Medical. I came here via Summerville looking for a better overall doctors office without the masses of coughing sick patience you have in those other doctor offices (palmetto primary). Love Dr Johnson!! He is willing to take time with you and doesn't make you feel like he is in a hurry. His assist Brittany, is great as well. She took my blood and I have never had anyone do such a painless job like she did. She is GOOD!! I would highly recommend Island Medical on Daniel Island.
We got our bill, and had been charged not only for a "preventive med" appointment, but also for an entirely different appointment - "problem focused." In total, we were charged $449 for a single appointment lasting 15 minutes.
My husband scheduled an appointment at Island Medical for a routine annual physical. During the appointment, he mentioned that he had been having migraines and trouble sleeping. The MD told him they believed the migraines were being caused by lack of sleep, and recommended he try melatonin. If this did not work, said they would prescribe a medication to help with sleep. This was the extent of the discussion.
I have been a patient for several years; Dr. Hunter and her staff do a great job. They are ready to see me at the appointed time and get me taken care of promptly and efficiently every time.
Would not recommend this facility - expect to be nickel and dimed.
So, the lesson here is, if going to Island Medical for an annual medical checkup, be sure to not actually mention any health issues you are having, or you will be charged for two appointments.
In and out quickly. Staff is young and new. Would like to see more high tech for a medical practice. Annual physical could have been more detailed to include history review. Overall good visit. Dr. Hunter is pleasant and competent. I would grade the medical billing as a C-. This is a third party vendor and is not managed well. Dr. Hunter's office stated they are aware of the vendor problems and can't change them due to contract commitments.
In and out in decent time for a full first-time visit, and still very thorough....
