Spent 2 weeks at Middleton for my honeymoon. From the moment I called to book our stay, I knew it was going to be a pleasant experience. When we arrived, turning on the dirt road to get to the inn was the most beautiful sight I have seen. Upon arrival we were greeted and treated like family. Our room was stunning, always well kept. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was always a delicious start to the day. Happy hour was also a wonderful treat! The gardens were a little piece of heaven. I often think about my time at Middleton Place, I cannot wait to visit again.
We didn't tour the plantation, we just went there for dinner which was good. The service was great, the food was good, but the prices were a bit on the high side but not too crazy. The atmosphere was good. Parking was rustic and dimly lit but that's understandable with them wanting to keep the historical feel to the place. Though we didn't have lunch there, we looked over the lunch menu and had we had the time, I would have like to have tried it - maybe next time if we get back to the Charleston area.
Gorgeous gardens which are right on the river with ancient old oak trees all covered in Spanish Moss framing the landscape. Immaculate grounds, home and stables. We took the home tour - the furnishing are very high end, in addition to being original to the property, which has been in the same family for, I believe 12 generations!! We also toured the neighboring Magnolia Plantation which had beautiful gardens, but the home is really not much of a plantation. If you have time to see both it is fun to do so, but if you have time for just one - make it the Middleton Place Plantation!
My wife and I just completed a tour of the Middleton Place rice Plantation - it is stunning!
The most beautiful gardens in Charleston. Middleton Place is a must do when visiting the area. February is a peak month for Camellias, and it’s usually not as busy then! Plan to stay until the restaurant opens for dinner for a perfect day.
Went here for my honeymoon. Incredible place. The architecture is very modern set in the beautiful setting of the south carolina marshes. It is quiet and secluded which makes for a very romantic place to get away from it all. That being said charleston is a short drive away for the night life. Its the best of both worlds. Definitely worth it if your thinking about staying here.
