Dr. Yon's Twitter page says he's "been in practice for over 30 years and has a business where every patient feels like family" - and this is exactly true. The truly delightful Dr. Yon has been our dentist (for my husband and me) since 1999, and we've referred many other friends and family members to him over the years. Most do go to him as well so we form a big group of Dr. Yon fans. Even when I began working out of Charlotte on weekdays, I took time off to travel back to Charleston every six months for my appointments with Dr. Yon and his staff. Things I like about him: on the occasions where I've had to have a filling or other procedure, his Novocain shots are painless (he has a trick when he gives it to you that really works), if you so much as twitch during the procedure he immediately stops and delivers more Novocain to make sure the procedure doesn't hurt, he gets nitrous oxide himself even when he just gets his teeth cleaned so you don't feel ridiculous asking for it during a procedure, he's funny, he's friendly, and he has a wide knowledge base - I've found out things from him ranging from why people tend to have to have a root canal on teeth directly across from each other (both teeth are affected because they came in at the same time, and during that time you were likely to have had chicken pox or another infection as a baby that weakened them as they were forming) to how he's been able to warn other patients to see their doctor to test for mono based on warning signs he has seen in their throats (and has been right 100% of the time). I dread the day Dr. Yon retires but he has assured me it will be a long time off. :O
